ACCENT OPTIONS

SHELVING AND ALCOVES

The most common use of many slabs we sell, especially for the kitchen, is as a countertop, tabletop, or island top. While natural stone is perfect for such applications, it can also add so much when you use it to accentuate other parts of your home. Shelving and alcoves are perfect examples. Alone, natural stone shelves and alcoves offer a refined robustness to a home. Combined with a countertop or fireplace, they bring a layer of depth and polish. These types of small touches will make your décor flow seamlessly throughout one room or across multiple ones.

EDGING

The beauty of a countertop can be found not only in its look, but also in its design. An integral part of that design is the edging. There are multiple options that allow you to get as creative as you want with this part of your slab. You can choose to go simple, with a squared-off edge, or opt to get more elaborate.

By going the more elaborate route, you can bring character to your bathroom, kitchen or outdoor living space. This may translate into a more rounded (pencil) edge or a tiered (waterfall) one. Like shelving, edging is a small touch, but allows you to add your own flair and flavor to your home improvement project.

TILE ACCENTS

Natural stone on any wall of your home will enhance that living space. An easy but effective way to magnify that is by using a decorative accent. This can be placed at the top, bottom, or anywhere in between, serving to both complement and accentuate the beauty of your natural stone. A fireplace is an ideal spot for a tile accent, for example, as it provides another reason to gather the family here all year round.

BACKSPLASH

The backsplash presents an opportunity for creativity in your kitchen and bathroom. The simplest solution for a backsplash is to continue what you started on your counter and put it onto the wall as a protective layer against water and grease damage.

If you want to add some extra style to your home, consider a mosaic tile. At Global Marble & Granite, we have a choice of options, made from a variety of materials, for you to consider as companion pieces to your slab. The backsplash can cover only a section of your kitchen or bathroom wall or it can cover an entire wall. Your backsplash is an effective way to bring color, art, and life to a room.

BATHROOM TOUCHES

There are many small but unique touches you can incorporate in your bathroom project using natural stone. These include shower jambs, thresholds, shower seats, and shelving, which can be installed in showers or next to vanities. As in other applications, these features can serve to enrich these spaces and your home.

These are just a few ways that you can bring your personality into your home construction or improvement project. We look forward to working with you during every step of the process to make that a reality. Set up an appointment today.
